Micaela’s blog (http://mybodymindhealth.com.au/blog) has a series on the 10 non-psychological causes of depression and anxiety which we touch on today in the podcast.
Beyond the psychological, social and emotional aspects, there can often be a biological reason as to why you feel the way you do.
Micaela talks about a number of physiological causes of depression and/or anxiety that can be treated by addressing the root cause.
Here are the causes we talk about today:
- Digestive problems
- Hormonal imbalances
- Thyroid disease
- Poor blood sugar regulation
- The wrong type of dietary fats
- Food intolerances
- Over-the-counter and prescribed medication
- Pyrrole disorder
- Methylation issues
- Poor sleep
The causes mentioned above can all have an impact on the balance in body chemistry and affect the availability, synthesis and breakdown of important neurotransmitters involved in mood regulation.
