Dr. Darwish is a psychiatrist based in Alexandria, Egypt and has been a champion for those troubled by addiction for many years. When he found that recovered addicts, after discharge from the hospital, had nowhere to find ongoing help, he opened the Recovery Center. Building everything from the ground up, this centre has become a fundamental element in the battle against addiction in Egypt.
This is an exciting story and one full of heart-felt love for people and an unwavering dedication to help those who cannot help themselves.

I want to find out more about Dr. Darwin and his treatment. From what I heard in the pod cast his use of the change model is a bit outdated and the 3rd addition of Motivational Interviewing would be useful for him. He is moving in the right direction and Dr. William Miller has addressed most of the issues Dr. Darwin has been confronted with and has updated the model to address those issues of change.
CBT does not work with clients new in recovery due to what is happening in the brain,so I would be interested knowing how he has addressed this. CBT can be used but down the track. It is a bottom up process not a top down process. Relapse can not be controlled because the client is not ready to use their Prefrontal Cortex yet. I am inspired to check out his work. Thank you John
